ABOUT ME
Hi there! I’m Sohrab Adnani, a 16-year-old Grade 10 student at Collingwood School in West Vancouver. I’m Persian and South African, but I was born and raised in Canada, which means my life has always sat at the crossroads of cultures. From my family, I’ve learned about resilience, community, and never taking opportunity for granted; from growing up here, I’ve learned perspective, how lucky I am to have a platform, and how important it is to actually use it.

I’m obsessed with finance, entrepreneurship, policy, and public speaking. I love taking ideas that live in my head, about opportunity, and youth voice, and turning them into real projects that other people can actually use and benefit from. That’s why I’m founding the Vancouver Youth Investment Fund, a youth-led philanthropic endowment fund that helps students learn about investing while supporting social impact. On the competitive side, I’ve jumped into business and finance wherever I can: I compete in DECA, help run DECA BC as Co-Head of Operations, and was my groups leader in the 2025 Wharton Investment Competition placing in the top 20% of teams. At school, I’m the Co-Director of Strategy and Analytics at Collingwood Investment Club, where I get to dig into markets, strategy, and how global events actually show up on a balance sheet. Whilst making all activities as engaging, and interesting as possible.
My other obsession is communication, policy, and most importantly, politics. How ideas are framed, argued, and delivered. I’ve thrown myself into Model UN, debate, and public speaking, and I now serve as the current Chairman and Incoming Class of 2028 President of Collingwood Model UN. Recently, I placed 8th in BC for Interpretive Reading and 24th for Persuasive Speaking, and I’m working toward qualifying for nationals. For me, speaking isn’t just about performance; it’s about taking complex issues and making them feel real and understandable for people my age.
That naturally pulled me toward politics. I’ve worked with the Conservative Party of Canada on the federal level as a communications level directly working under MP's such as Stephen Curran. I am Founding a youth-led interview series called The Opportunity Index, a youth centric, led, interview series where I cover entrepreneurship, economics, youth opportunities, and policies through a nonpartisan perspective, hosting change makers, entrepreneurs, investors, and policy makers on to the channel. Episode 1 features former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on politics and leadership, Episode 2 features Political Consultant James Knight, and future episodes are planned with a local MP, city councillor, NGO leader, and impact investor, each one exploring how decisions are made, who holds power, and where young people fit in.
At Collingwood, I’m also part of the Communications Committee, where I created Good Morning Collingwood-a student-led segment where I act as the school’s news anchor and school-spirit engine. I interview students and teachers, document events, and help keep our community fun, vibrant, and connected. It’s the perfect mix of journalism, storytelling, and controlled chaos.
For me, finance and communication are tools for impact – ways to shift how young people think about money, power, and their own potential. Whether I’m building a fund, prepping the DECA BC case, hosting Good Morning Collingwood, or stepping up to a podium, my goal is simple: make complex ideas feel accessible and help other students see themselves as decision-makers, not just spectators.
